What the problem was:Customer called as she had found us on the Worcester Bosch Accredited Installers website. She has just purchased a property in Alsager, that she is renovating to move into. It currently has a Glow Worm Flexicom Combi boiler installed, which she would like swapping for a Worcester Bosch, she believes the radiators are all fine as they are
What we did:
We sent out a Senior Heating Installer to the property in Alsager when the customer was on site with other tradesmen, so that we could carry out a survey and recommend a model that would be suitable, and provide her with a cost to replace.
The engineer checked the system, and established that the property had three large bedrooms, and two bathrooms, both with baths and mixer showers.
We recommended a Worcester Greenstar 32 CDI combi boiler, as the customer was having a new kitchen installed, and she preferably wanted the boiler to fit in a cupboard in her kitchen, and the compact boiler range are designed to fit in small areas, but this boiler would still be powerful enough to meet the demands of the property.
We also recommended this boiler because they are highly efficient and should save the customer money on her home energy bills, as the boiler condenses when switched to either hot water or heating.
We provided the customer with a cost to supply and fit the new boiler, which included everything, so the customer didn’t have any last minute extras. She agreed, and a date was secured the following week to go and complete the installation.
The water and the electrics were turned off, the old wall mounted boiler was removed, and then the new one was fitted to the wall, ensuring that the fittings were secure. The install was completed quickly and efficiently, then checked over, before the customer was provided with a Gas Safety Certificate for her new boiler.
The serial numbers of the boiler and the filter were taken so that we could provide the customer with her Worcester Bosch extended warranty, which is only available from Worcester Bosch accredited installers. The customer can now move into her new home knowing that she will have a reliable efficient system for her heating and hot water.

What the problem was:
Customer owns a property in Alsager which is around 8 years old. She has had the property from new, and the boiler is the original boiler. The customer has British Gas Homecare, she has had several breakdowns over the last few months, and this time she has had several engineers out to the property, and it has been deemed as irreparable by them. They have had a quote from British Gas to replace it, but customer seems to think that it is very expensive, and has decided to obtain two further quotes before making a decision. She is not interested in cost to repair, even if this is possible, as she has had enough of it.
What we provided
The customer was looking for reliability but also cost effectiveness. We completed the survey, of the property, it had two beds and one bathroom with only seven radiators. Our engineer recommended a Vokera Vision 25C, as they are A band condensing boilers, so would be more efficient than her current boiler. Also at the time of the install, Vokera were offering an extended seven year manufacturer’s warranty with the vision range, so this offered the customer additional value for money.
We provided the customer with our recommendations and the costs in the form of a quote. However the customer had received a third quote, from a sole trader, which was cheaper, (because he wasn’t VAT registered). This was for a value range boiler, with only one year warranty.
However, after explaining the implications of this, the customer still decided that she would go ahead with the cheaper quote. But, two weeks later, we received another phone call from the customer, the engineer that she had chosen for her new boiler, had failed to turn up on two occasions, the customer had taken time off work, a third appointment was made, and he had called that day, again, to say that he would have to re-arrange once again due to ill health. The customer had on this occasion had enough, and had told him to not continue with the job.
She then decided that she would like us to install the boiler instead. As the customer had already booked off Friday from work, we agreed to fit in with her timescales. This would give us the opportunity to order the boiler and collect all the parts required. The Gas Safe engineer attended the property on the Friday, arrived between 8.00am and 9.00am as agreed, installed the boiler, flue and controls, and checked the system to ensure that it was running as it should.Outcome:
